School buses are boarding up.
Birds are chirping as early as 4am.
And even in our Minnesota-based headquarters, we can finally safely say that there isn’t a speck of snow mixed into all that lush grass and healthy dirt.
While not official until later this month, the summer season has arrived, and with it, the near daily reminders of the importance of good hydration.
Good hydration is right in our wheelhouse, of course, so we’d be remiss in not sharing its importance with you. But really, what more can we say that hasn’t already been said, by experts ranging from the University of Minnesota Medical School to Michelle Obama?
So rather than rehash what you very likely already know, here’s a new take on the summer hydration twist: five ways dirty water can leave your summer plans deflated, in addition to leaving your body dehydrated. And just so you don’t get too bummed out before you start, know that we’ve included some helpful links to the right products from our online store that can help you keep those dirty water demons at bay!
1. Dingy Up Your Swimming Pool
A dirty, dingy swimming pool is as disgusting as a clean, clear swimming pool is refreshing. If your pool water is green, brown or black, your summer could head downhill fast.
If you have dirty water in your pool that resembles anything close to what is seen in the image to the right, you’ll either want to clean your current pool filter, or take a closer look at our selection of pool and spa filters, found here. Quickly.
2. Damage The Integrity Of Your Organic Garden
That’s not just water coming out of your garden hose.
Chlorine is a common disinfectant in municipal water supplies, and has been, for several years. Fortunately, when it comes to your drinking water, health impacts are minimal. In fact, chlorine levels in your typical municipal water are likely so low that the water filters we offer focus on reducing cosmetic chlorine taste and odor, above all else.
But when it comes to the water being fed to your plants, it can get a little bit tricky, especially if you’re going organic. Some suggest that chlorinated garden water will have little noticeable impact, while others indicate that it can throw the health of flower gardens out of whack. Some also suggest that chlorinated water can kill off the ‘good’ bacteria your soil needs.
Bottom-line, the chlorine used in municipal water supplies is not organic, which can put the integrity of your organic garden in question. Fortunately, the Gard’n Gro Garden Dechlorinator and Green Knight Hydroponic Dechlorinator, both from Rainshow’r and available on our site, can keep this impurity far away from your plants and flowers.
3. Delay Your RV Trip
A good RV journey, whether it’s taking you road tripping, camping or ‘glamping’ depends on a certain balance between organization and spontaneity. When it comes to the drinking water served by your RV, you definitely want to ensure this falls under the ‘organization’ side of the ledger.
If you have an RV trip in mind, take a moment now to check the water filter. If you don’t trust it to filter the water you need to stay hydrated on the road, check out our selection of RV filters, found here. If your trip starts soon, don’t worry, we offer overnight shipping!
4. Dry Out Your Skin or Fur
The stock characters in the accompanying image have quite a bit in common.
First, as they’re both sitting in a field, they’re both going to need a shower or a bath.
Second, both are surprisingly susceptible to the dryness that can be caused by chlorinated shower water, which can impact pets, kids and the fair skinned especially hard.
If those in your home have sensitive skin or fur, or if you’re just sick of feeling dried out after your showers, check out our selection of shower filter systems that help to significantly reduce the impact that chlorinated water can have on your skin. Check out our selection of shower filters over here.
5. Decimate Your Dinner Party
We feel safe in assuming that any summer dinner party you plan will likely feature some type of fresh fruit or vegetable serving, meaning, a quick rinse under the kitchen sink. But if your tap water is infested with chemicals or sediment, odd flavors can definitely impart on your food, meaning a definite decrease in attendance for your next affair.
If you are committed to serving only the cleanest and freshest tasting food to your guests, check out our selection of faucet filters, found here, that can help ensure only the flavor of your food is tasted.
